This is an interesting question as withought the product requirements of the customer an accurate answer cannot be given.
Saying this however, if I were to do a travel package for a magazine here is list of 10 consideration /shots:
1. Shoot both landscape and portrait so your imagery can be easily adapted to different layouts
2. Landscapes, cityscapes and streetscapes
3. Shoot people in their environment
4. Detail shots eg. coffee cup, doorknob, steeple, shepherds staff etc.
5. Landmarks and popular spots
6. Entertainment and people having fun
7. Locals working
8. Food and food stands/restaurants
9. Local accommodation to suit a variety of budgets
10. Adventure activities.
As I said before, you really need to find out what the client wants and his angle for the story/imagery. If shooting for yourself or freelance then make sure you research the location and come up with and angle or story to work with. Your imagery should be like a documentary story board; wide, medium, close and don't forget to shoot in portrait if you want any chance of a front cover.
Here's a quick list I found on the net which will give a slightly more indepth look at travel photography:
